La introducción de la serie Europa

Los billetes de la serie Europa se emitirán de forma progresiva a lo largo de varios años en orden ascendente. Los dos primeros billetes de la nueva serie, de 5€ y 10€, entraron en circulación en 2013 y 2014 respectivamente. El nuevo billete de 20€ fue presentado el 24 de febrero de 2015 y comenzará a circular el 25 de noviembre de 2015.

Diseño actualizado, seguridad mejorada

Los nuevos billetes representan una evolución. Aunque mantienen el diseño «épocas y estilos» de la primera serie, se han modificado ligeramente incorporando elementos de seguridad mejorados, lo que permite distinguirlos fácilmente de los billetes de la primera serie. El diseñador de billetes independiente radicado en Berlín, Reinhold Gerstetter, fue seleccionado para actualizar el diseño de los billetes en euros. Las denominaciones siguen siendo las mismas: 5€, 10€, 20€, 50€, 100€, 200€ y 500€.

Fáciles de identificar y más seguros

Los nuevos elementos de seguridad de la serie Europa son fáciles de localizar en los billetes y dificultan su falsificación.


Introducción progresiva

La introducción de los billetes de la serie Europa diferirá de la entrada en circulación del euro en 2002 por varias razones.

Cada denominación se emitirá en una fecha distinta, de modo que, a diferencia de 2002, la introducción de la serie completa requerirá varios años.

Dado que la serie Europa se introducirá progresivamente y que cada país tiene su propio «ciclo de efectivo», los nuevos billetes no aparecerán simultáneamente en toda la zona del euro.

Circulación en paralelo, validez indefinida

A fin de agotar los stocks existentes, los billetes de la primera serie se seguirán introduciendo junto con los de la nueva serie durante varios meses en muchos países de la zona del euro. Las dos series circularán en paralelo como dinero de curso legal. La fecha en que los billetes en euros de la primera serie dejen de tener curso legal se anunciará con suficiente antelación. No obstante, los billetes de la primera serie podrán cambiarse durante un período ilimitado en los BCN del Eurosistema.

On behalf of the company/institution mentioned above, we declare that we will refrain from using any materials either in printed or electronic form provided by the ECB until our membership of the Partnership Programme has been confirmed.
We will be liable for any damages incurred by the ECB should we not act in accordance with this Letter of Intent. We also understand that the ECB reserves the right to terminate our membership at any time.
